In between eviction and resale foreclosed properties are maintained by a third party, usually contracted by the foreclosing institution. These maintanence companies clean and sanitize each property. All furnishings are removed, marks and dents are scrubbed and filled in the floors and walls. There remains no overt visual evidence of the heartbreak and transgression that typically surrounds foreclosure. These spaces exist between two very different definitions of home, one of comfort and belonging, the other of foresaken dreams.
